Episode 79

Can I Call You a Liar for a Minute? | Anchor Points | Ep. 79

I’ve lied. Probably more times than I’d like to admit. Sometimes it’s obvious, and sometimes it sounds as harmless as blaming traffic when the real problem was that I didn’t leave the house on time.

We have this instinct to cover ourselves. Adam and Eve did it, and we still do it today. We hide, explain, stretch the truth, and try to make ourselves look a little better.

But the good news is that Jesus frees us from living in the cover-up. We can tell the truth about ourselves because God already knows it—and His response to confession is forgiveness and cleansing.

Scripture (NIV):

1 John 1:9 — “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Reflection Questions:

Where am I tempted to bend or hide the truth?

What makes honesty difficult for me sometimes?

Is there something I need to bring honestly before God today?
