Episode 31

What You Overhear Might Be an Opportunity | Anchor Points | Ep. 31

Have you ever caught part of a conversation you weren’t really part of, but couldn’t help overhearing?

It might feel awkward at first, but sometimes those small moments give us an unexpected opportunity to care for someone.

In today’s Anchor Point, I share a simple moment at church where just paying attention—really listening—opened the door to make someone feel seen and welcomed. It wasn’t anything big or dramatic. Just a small step, a quick conversation, a willingness to notice.

And maybe that’s something we overlook more often than we realize.

We don’t always need perfect timing or the right words. Sometimes we just need to be present enough to notice what’s happening around us—and respond with a little bit of kindness.

Because those small moments? They matter more than we think.

Scripture (NIV):

Philippians 2:4 — “...not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Reflection Questions:

Do I tend to stay in my own world, or am I aware of the people around me?

When was the last time I noticed someone who might have needed encouragement?

How can I be more intentional about showing care in small, everyday moments?
